Achieved accreditation with Coeliac Uk in May 2025 Coeliac UK Accreditation Sonya has been cooking and baking gluten free for 17 years following family members being diagnosed with Coeliac's Disease and herself being identified with various other food related difficulties. Having always been 'a feeder' and witnessing first hand the impact that having to suddenly change how everyone eats and their relationship with food being disrupted, she set about adapting her own recipes to support this process. There was much experimenting with new recipes in an attempt to 'normalise' food. The challenge of 3 meals per day for the whole family, snacks, pack ups and entertaining family and friends whilst managing cross contamination in the early days was incredibly difficult. Sonya's business began during Lockdown in 2020. Sonya registered her home kitchen and started to batch cook to sell to others that were struggling to source gluten free food at this time. Many customers will know this as North Suffolk Pantry. The move to The Dove Inn came in 2023 and the process of building a hospitality business that focuses on the needs of customers that require a gluten free diet began. Sonya and her team, are very proud to now offer a full gluten free menu, and with the support of selected suppliers, can now offer a full range of certified gluten free products on the bar. As such, our food and drink offer extends to full buffet catering for any event, party, or gathering. Celebration cakes are also available. All gluten free. What we are seeing is a return to normal for customers and guests that need to eat gluten free. Relief, joy, disbelief, gratitude and yes, some skepticism from guests that pre-judge before they have actually tried the food. However, we can proudly say that 'you would never know' is a phrase that we are getting used to hearing! Coeliac Cafe Meetings Sonya and daughter Kirsty have completed Coeliac UK's volunteer training and are now supported to host regular meet ups at The Dove Inn. You do not have to have a formal diagnosis of Coeliac's Disease to attend. These meeting are drop in style and are to offer a space for anyone to come along and chat. As the meetings develop we will look at what the needs of the group are and work to offer other opportunities that support the cause.
